While we celebrate International Women’s day and our very own Lionesses, let’s take a step back and remember that:
- Women are more likely to repay microfinance loans than men
- Women are over represented in informal employment in developing countries
- Unpaid family work accounts for 42.3% of female employment in developing countries
- In the agricultural sector, women are overrepresented in seasonal, informal, part-time, and low-wage work with limited access to social protection
Empowering women is THE way to foster sustainable economic development. According to the IMF, closing the gender gap in labour force participation could lead to increased GDP of between 10 and 80%.
At Lion’s Head Global Partners, we are committed to driving sustainable economic development and to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals. We look forward to working with our clients and partners to continue to fostering inclusion.
